Ross on Wye & District

Groups

Our leisure and social groups are run by members and reflect the interests of our current membership.

Groups meet in local and community halls such as the Larruperz Centre, or they may meet at members' homes. Most groups meet every month though some are fortnightly or weekly. If you want to find out what a particular group gets up to then contact the group coordinator via the name link at the top of the group page to arrange a 'taster session'. A small charge is made by some groups, for example for materials, for tickets to the theatre or gardens, or perhaps towards the hire of a room.

A group of hands touching

Each group has a coordinator (or two) who keeps a list of group members and passes on messages and news of the next meeting. Coordinators may have some knowledge of the subject being considered but the u3a learning experience is one of sharing knowledge and researching the subject so that we all learn from each other. Huge thanks to our many group coordinators who give their time and effort into assuring that our groups run smoothly.

Whilst every effort is made to accommodate new members to groups, it must be stressed that before joining Ross u3a, if your sole purpose is to join a particular group, it is advisable to check whether that group can accommodate new members. By the nature of some groups they are restricted to room size (if held at a members' house), number in teams (ie Scrabble - Bridge), etc. However, DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF as we are always willing to accept suggestions as to how to increase group size; even if this means creating a second group or hiring a suitable room. Also, it is important to stress the many other advantages of joining Ross u3a - meeting and socialising at the Monthly Meetings and exploring the many other groups that currently exist. We look forward to meeting you.
